Notes & Comments

Thames Towpath Ten - 10 miles.
Current PB - just over 1:14 set during MK Half a few weeks ago.
Target time - Plan to go out fast just like at MK Half and see if I could break 1:12:30...

Splits....
Mile 1 - 7:48 - what happened to the plan??? Curses!
Mile 2 - 7:16 - realise I'm over a minute behind the splits I did at MK Half - oops.
Mile 3 - 7:18 - gorgeous running alongside the Thames and Kew Gardens - the wind against us but the sun getting warmer.
Mile 4 - 7:19 - feeling slight twinge in right leg - why did I race the 5km yesterday? Why did I go for that cycle ride yesterday? Doh!
Mile 5 - 7:17 - half way in 36:58 - easy to work out I'm just inside my current PB but way outside the target time of 1:12:30... ho hum
Mile 6 - 7:11 - turn away from the towpath back and onto some pavement running.
Mile 7 - 7:06 - work out it's a 5km left to run and try to push
Mile 8 - 7:19 - mind under matter again - I should just stop pushing... it always seems to make me slower!
Mile 9 - 7:09 - watch tells me I have to make the last mile a 7:20 to get under 1 hour 13 minutes so just need to keep going...
Mile 10 - 6:26 - that's a new mile PB :-)

Time at finish 1:12:07. Cloud nine for me - much faster than I'd hoped despite the slow start - and I'm not talking to anyone who ran the race with a Garmin (just in case!)
Please wait... saving your change.
