Notes & Comments

South Downs Marathon - splits would mean nothing as course was very varied. Chose trail shoes but think I would have fared better with cushioning as chalk surface was unforgiving and fairly gravelly. I had a lovely day out - route was beautiful, sun was out and was running comfortably. Slow time was due to walking the uphills and getting cramp at 13 miles which I was unable to shake off for rest of run. Felt strong and still comfortable at mile 20 and could have pushed the last 6 miles but didn't feel like it. Started crying at mile 26 because of foot pain and relief at actually finishing in one piece but form was still relaxed and I was happy. No peanut m&ms and kettle chips this time - it's just not the same eating them alone :-(
