Notes & Comments

Race day ! The Sneyd Striders 10 mile Christmas Pudding race.
Having struggled with my knee for the last couple of weeks I was originally going to drop out of the race when it bacame clear my knee injury would not allow me to go for the time I would have comfortably expected to achieve ( between 1 hr 12 min - 1 hr 15 min ), and my friend I was to run with dropped out late on.
However when my knee responded to anti inflammatories and deep heat I decided to compete but with a different target in mind...I used it as a training run for the London Marathon and ran at my intended marathon pace of between 8- 8.30. It was because of this slower run that I managed to complete the race although my knee was getting quite sore from 7 and a half miles onward. This made it a useful exercise for me as the PB can wait til another day. As it turned out the race was not accurately measured and was in fact 10.2 miles long!! My actual time as my watch read after 10 miles was 1 hr 20 secs 43 secs.

The knee is a bit sore tonight but I will keep treating with anti inflammatories and hope it clears up soon.
