Notes & Comments

My first race of 2010 and definitely NOT what I expected. I had this down as a 'b' race i.e not a priority but just one to blow away the cobwebs after 3 and a half months without a race. What I ended up with was a mudbath. The race starter said it may be 'a bit wet' underfoot but in truth the 2 lap course had about half a mile each lap of road before being constant muddy , in places hilly grassy pathways that were actually dangerously slippy in places. In fact lots of people DID fall and I nearly did on more than one occasion.
Any race plan went out of the window and it just became a case of getting around and surviving without getting injured. To give an idea of how treacherous it was I ran a slow time by my own standards over 4 mins slower than my PB and yet still finished inside the top 20. I finished in front of more distinguished runners in cluding the first lady finisher. Should the race have gone ahead who knows. I am just glad to have finished the race in one piece, the fast time can wait til my next race in a couple of weeks. To cap an unusual day the finishers prize was a MUG. My most unusual finishers prize in what was so far my most unusual race.
Please wait... saving your change.
