The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
The Lostock 6 sort of crept up on me, but it was great to get out in a race after a snowy winter. I had been worried about pace. I have done a few long slow runs over the last few months and many more short slow runs on icy roads and the treadmilll. As soon as I arrived at the registration I could tell it was going to be a good event. I think everybody was just glad to see a fine day, which despite the weather forecast was dry.
My Garmin time will be about 10 seconds short of the official time due to operator error on my part. Nevertheless I did the first kilometre in 4:11 which is astonishing for me. More astonishing for me was that I only took more than 5 minutes for two of the kilometre splits. I saw many friendly faces and was particularly grateful for the shout I got from a fellow parishioner of St Thomas of Canterbury on Lostock Junction Lane as I plodded up THAT hill. "Look he's smiling!" I heard one person shout. Maybe I am a bit mad, but more likely it was down to the encouragement of the spectators at that point. Thank you! I am waiting for the official time but I am pleased with my unofficial time of 46:28.74. Not too shabby for me!!
