Bummer, was just outside pb, but I know why. I'd set a target for sub 45 and when it became clear that wasn't going to happen, I couldn't remember what I needed for "any" pb. If I'd had a plan B, I would definitely have found those 9 seconds and possibly more from somewhere.
Negatives: Breathing was terrible by mile 1 despite taking inhaler so I knew would struggle big time. I didn't have a plan B so I gave up at 4 miles. I didn't have the fight to stay with the person I was level with until then.
Positives Course pb by over 5 minutes. I stayed on perfect pace for 3.5 miles and didn't go off too fast. Knee was ok and legs were relatively ok, it was just the breathing. I was so close to a pb despite being injured for nearly 4 months and having done relatively minimal training.
My Brass Monkey plan has a lot of threshold and steady pace runs so I'm positive that if knee holds up and can stick to the schedule that I'll smash my 10K and half times.
Don't plan to run another 10K probably until NT10K so never mind sub 45, will be aiming for sub 44 by then!
