Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

Autumn Coast Rd 5K. Very overcast and drizzly evening, but nothing more than a gentle breeze in the air. I was well rested having adjusted the pace of my long runs recently. The gun went off and I immediately found myself a bit far back in the crowd to make the start I wanted. I got a bit frustrated as I watched some of the other club shirts pulling away and I felt hemmed in for a while until I finally spotted a gap and quickly nipped through and moved forward - I know now from my experience that the speed of my first mile is where I am likely to impact most on my finish time. The second mile was about half a minute slower but I continued to overtake a few people where I could. Mile 3 typically saw the return by unpopular demand of the ongoing stitch saga. My legs were not aching whatsoever though so I did all to run through it but was unable to push forward with the pain. In the last quarter mile I was overtaken by another fella and I raced him to the finish, overtaking him again in the last 100m. This was one of the fastest 3rd mile I've ever done on a 5k. Finished 1 second down on my summer 5k time on same course, so reasonably happy.
