Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

A very very emotional day as finally after 6 months of training I ran the Blackpool Marathon in memory of my mum who died almost a year ago. Ran pretty much the race I wanted but ran a bit more cautiously and conservatively than I intended to due to some unseasonal warm sunshine which shone right from start to finish.
Felt very good until the last 3 miles when I would confess I was hanging on by my fingernails. However my training paid off and although I could have got nearer 3.30 to 3.35 on the day I feel I made the right decision to run a slightly slower pace to ensure I did not pay for it later on. A decision vindicated by the last 3 miles alone when I was able to keep going even though I was so tired. Apparently this was the last ever Blackpool Marathon and if thats the case then it was a great day and in some ways a fitting tribute to my mum who was after all the reason I was running and was never far from my thoughts throughout the race. Now looking forward to a bit of a rest and not having a marathon to train for at last having done two in the last twelve months.
Please wait... saving your change.
