Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Notes & Comments

Marathon Pace Run (1m easy, 7m at 6.20 pace, 2m easy)
Didn't sleep great and tired when waking, but legs felt fairly good. Weather was good for a harder run. Aim of the run was to try to get a feel for marathon effort or pace, which I think (hope) is around 6.20. Aimed to run 7 middle miles between 6.15-6.25 (depending on roads, hills, etc) and average around 6.20 pace.

Started off downhill on the Oadby Road, then uphill on Brabazon. Effort rose uphill, but I tried to control that so allowed pace to drop a bit, plus that first mile is always a shock to the legs.

Then had variations in gradients for the rest of the marathon pace block. I seemed to struggle to find what felt right for the first couple of miles. There were road crossings to think about and slow for, so there was some changes of pace, but HR for most of those miles was consistent and no real cardiac drift. There was also a slight headwind in the earlier miles. Mile 4 was slightly slower due to having to stop for a car at a junction.

Once around Victoria Park and then coming back, my legs seemed to get in to gear with the paces and they felt more comfortable. I could have carried on going at the end of the paced section which was pleasing.

One stop towards the end of the final MP mile in order to get across the ring road, which means average HR is slightly out.

Happy with the paces, but felt a little disjointed with the effort in the first half. Legs good afterwards and for the rest of the day.
