Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

I still used HR as a guide to effort. My 75% WHR (about 153) pace was about 45 seconds per mile slower than anything i achieved in training, so i thought there was a slim chance of squeezing below 4 hours. first mile was mega slow at 13 minutes. the other factor was the amount of people i needed to pass throughout the entire race, especially the last 6 miles. it certainly saps energy dodging around people. HR drifted up to 165ish during the latter half of the race and was impossible to get down.

Was quite pleased with my pacing overall and managed a slight negative split:

10Km 1:00:34
20Km 1:58:21
Half 2:04:41
30Km 2:57:03
40Km 3:56:19
Finish 4:08:41

HR splits: 139 153 151 154 156 155 151 154 158 161 162 159 159 159 156 161 164 165 163 161 164 165 164 162 162 165

No way am i disappointed. It was a fantastic day. Application will be in for next year, and deffo doing another marathon this year. :-)
