Notes & Comments

Had watch programmed for 5:10-5:20/km pace for 5km. Wanted to run at 5:15/km average pace. Was unfamiliar with what the readings meant during my run and went a bit faster after the first km. Fairly consistent pace I would say, stabilised at about 2km instead of increasing pace (or going at current pace which was probably too fast to maintain). There is a fairly sizeable (for me) hill around 3.5km, and I didn’t want that to deplete me. Wasn’t too hard in the end. When going down that hill someone was right behind me and I thought they would pass me (I think they were someone who had stopped to do some show related thing and I’d gone past them). I upped my pace as it was downhill anyway and even the next flattish and slight uphill I kept going. Don’t know what happened but then I couldn’t hear them anymore. More of uphill and then nice downhill finish. Continued for 30 or so metres past the finish as my watch hadn’t gone to 5km yet. 😀
