Notes & Comments

Yeovil Open 800m. Peter Grist kindly gave me a lift (as I still don't have a car) from Bath after spending the day in the office for our 'company situation' meeting. I wasn't expecting to run faster than this because of how I was feeling. My back is still very sore/tight, so is my hip flexor, and my calf's were knotted. My whole body felt very tight/stiff, fatigued, and just generally unwell - I had a bit of a sore throat, headache, and dodgy stomach (diarrhea just 15 minutes before my race). I planned to go off more 'gently' and try to run the first lap in 66/67, which I did (at that point a Somer AC lap went in front, which kind of cut me up and slowed me down - I went around him again almost straight away, but I reckon I would have dipped under 2.16 if that hadn't happened). The second lap felt much more controlled, I wasn't fading and I even picked it up in the last 100m or so.
