The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
Cold but sunny to start with, windy. Turned overcast. Decided to wear a vest based on the sunshine at the start as I didn't want to overheat. However - that wasn't the right decision as the sun went in! There was an icy wind so I was pretty cold. Wind made me bit lightheaded too.
Also had a backache before I began & feet quite uncomfortable by the end.
Hadn't trained for speed, though had completed 17 miles in training so my aim was just get the distance done. Took it very easy to start with. Gentle pace. As a result I was able to pick up the pace as time went on but hardly pushed the pace at all. I was able to overtake people towards the end.
I didn't think I'd done very well so I was surprised and quite emotional to have won the FV55 category & got a shield. Even more surprised when i got home to check my previous times and found I was 4 minutes faster than last year - I was exhausted last year & this time I didn't feel too bad. (Though I was quite hating it when I was running!)
