I guess this was the first time back in proper race mode for a long while (excluding the awful 10k in Suffolk in the summer). The conditions were ideal for running - cool, slightly overcast. The course was nice with some sections along the Thames. One muddy bit. One horrible steep short climb in mile 8 from the riverside path up onto Richmond Bridge. Probably started off too fast at 7:30 mile pace and then couldn't maintain it. Was finding it tough going in the second half of the race. Was constantly being overtaken right from the start. The marshals were great.
It was my slowest time for the course which was disappointing but I am getting older, and my training has been pretty abysmal recently - so it was fair reflection of where I am at the moment. I'm just glad I got under 1:20:00!!!!
Overall, although I found it tough I did enjoy it and would like to do it again.
