The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
The idea had been to have a really, REALLY easy recovery run by accompanying Mike on his first RR10 after having woken up in his holiday breakfast following a cardiac event in foreign parts.
No-one had told Mike, who had no compunction tearing off up or belting down the hills. There was a little gaggle of Hardley men, desperate to secure the coveted last place: with Mike were Andy, Guy, Jeremy and, eventually bringing up the rear, me.
It's really not a proper run if no-one headbutts the ground. On this occasion, Jeremy managed to stay on his feet, so the honours fell to―no, better rephrase that―the fall guy was―no, that doesn't work either―anyway, we were being overtaken by a bunch of Itchen Spitfire ladies and Guy must have been distracted, because the next thing we know is that there's holes in his hands and knees and blood everywhere. Lots of it.
Apart from the bloodshed and my legs screaming at me that I really shouldn't be doing this, it was a lovely run in a New Forest evening. I'm probably ignoring the end of the run, too, which is a couple of hundred yards up a steep slope.
The Infamous Five failed, at the last gasp, to be the last men in: we overtook an Eastleigh runner and didn't see him again, so we assume he was behind us at the end.
Post run entertainment was a great meal at the Sir John Barleycorn, joined by Jane, Sue and Mike C.
