Very, very, very hilly, with a wind that made the downhills feel uphill. Worked really hard for 10 miles to maintain my pace and close the gap to the guy in 3rd place chipping away mile after mile and had finally caught and passed him about 3/4s of a mile up the brutal murder hill when my legs went completely and I had to stop and walk for the 1st time ever in a race and let him shuffle past. Really annoyed at myself especially as I was on for a really good 1.23 a 10 miles. It looks like I’ve blown the race for 2nd place in the Heb3 series wide open have to wait for next weeks Harris results. I was awarded an rather undeserved prize for 1st senior male because 1st place got the race place trophy and the two City of Edinburgh runners ahead of me were vets.
