Seville Marathon (976th)

Thanks to my achilles troubles, I went into this race off very little training in the last month. Achilles was feeling good for the few days before so opted to run with the strategy of nose-breathing only to control my pace and effort to half way, see how I feel, and take it from there.

Worked a treat. Got into a good rhythm and consistently paced things at ~22 min per 5k until just over half way. Got to half way in better shape than was expected and realised my first negative split marathon, and a sub-3:05 was on the cards so picked up the pace a bit for the second half and succeeded in both. I am now within the rare field of peeps who've negative split a marathon, and the even rarer group of men who've negative split a marathon.

Pretty impressed with my time and effort in the end and thoroughly enjoyed the race. Achilles felt good during the run and only started creaking about 4 hours after.
