Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Chippenham parkrun #78

Training hasn't been great for the last few weeks and still not feeling 100%. A bit of stuffy lungs over the last few days! Just aiming to do better than last time, and get 24:13, which would be 7:47mm.

Halloween parkrun, so lots of people in fancy dress! Minor drama at the start with an unacocompanied under 11, but then all was sorted out and we were off! 7:47 felt really quick right from the outset! Only got a few seconds behind target on the first hill, but already my lungs didn't feel too good. Second lap got to about 8 seconds behind.

Normally that should be ok, but I was struggling even going along the river to the second field. The second field was very muddy, and a bit slippery! I was running behind a guy with a couple of kids. They were going a little bit slower than I would have liked to go, but I was feeling pretty tired, so didnt have the energy to sprint past them as I have dine previous weeks.

Kept struggling on around the second field, gradually slipping further and further from the pace. Lungs still not happy! By the end of the second lap got past the guy with the kids and began the long slog back to the start, 40 seconds behind target. Heard the guy and the kid catching me towards the end, but couldn't go any faster, and they overtook me just before the end, along with another guy! The only photo of me in the photos is me being overtaken by all three of them!

Went across the line 30 seconds behind by my watch. Time was 24:28 on my watch, 24:29 in the official results. Course measured 3:07 by my watch. Dissapointing time 16 seconds slower than last time. Hopefully when I come back in three weeks when my parents are visiting I can go faster!
