Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

My first foray into our club competition, the Arena 80 Super Series, which involves one race every month with points being awarded based on your finishing position. I knew that the level of competition today was going to be high as it's a short, free run, in the city where the club is based, and sure enough there were just shy of 30 Arena runners out today. I think I did OK finishing in 10th place of of the 20 men, but do feel a little disappointed that I didn't manage to nick just a few places higher as there was a time difference of only a few seconds between me and the next four men who finished. Still, it was my first proper club race and it felt good to get points on the board. And I still managed to run a sub-20min 5k, in conditions that were quite a bit windier than the last time I did so overall no complaints!

I had also arranged to meet a friend from work there as we had been talking the talk about who could beat who. We reckoned that we were fairly evenly matched so it was time to walk the walk! He sped off at the start, leaving me trailing quite a bit behind, but by 1k I had overtaken him. I then thought that he had over exerted himself too son, but he managed to retake the lead at about 2k and managed to maintain it until the finish :( He won on this occasion, so I'll need to get back to the club sessions and work harder so I can exact my revenge next time!
