Third race of Herts Sunday XC league. Messed up warm up going too far and for too long as sought to recce the course. Arrived back in time to see people starting off. Quickly took off my upper layers down to vest and gulped down some water. Decided did not have time to take off long bottom layers and then set off in pursuit. Was quite nice to be overtaking people all the way round and I finished 141st, which was not too bad, but do wonder what I might have been able to do if I had done a 2 mile warm up and been ready for start. At least I knew where course went and how undulating it was for the two loops in the wood, so I probably paced myself better than I would have done if run blind. Will be interesting to compare my self-timed time with official race time to see how far behind I started and where I might have finished. A couple of showers during the race, but not the persistent chilling rain we experienced at Grovelands, for which I was grateful.
