Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

RACE REPORT - HOOKY 6

This race for me was all about getting back into the swing of things, have not raced since pulling out of a 10K nearly 2 months ago.

Aim - to get round pain free and under 48 mins.

Got there, very hot but a nice breeze, the race itself is 2 laps round the pictiresqu village of Hook Norton which is quite undulating.

Had a good long warm up and felt okay but nervous, decide to start near the back of the 300 strong field.

And off we go - into the 1st mile and feel comfortable and even hold myself back and see the first marker in 7:46 and feeling good.

The second mile (and fifth) is a long slog with the only main hill in it but am now overtaking people for fun and enjoying it. Hit 2 miles with a 7:29. Carry on overtaking people down the lovely 3 mile and into the second lap a nice 7:07.

So the second lap begins and the breeze picks up a bit but am starting to feel a bit more confident as the legs are holding up nicely, find the 4 mile mark in 7:18 then a slow 5th mile as working up the long slog, but still overtaking hit mile 5 with a slowish 7:34.

The last mile is great, its nearly all down hill so its time for one of my WWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEssss dwon turn the corner and on to the sports field to the finish with a 6:46 mile and a 44:02 finish time. (4 mins slower than last year but was fit then) so really happy with my performance, really enjoyed stating at the back and working up the field, get fun and a great day.
7:46, 7:29, 7:07, 7:18, 7:34, 6:46
