Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Blister Well I didn't come last! After a 2 hour coach trip we arrived about 30 minutes before the under 13's race, so they went off and prepared. My race didn't start until 3:00pm so we all supported the junior and ladies races. I walked around the course first and could see it was VERY muddy so decided to use 12mm spikes.

The gun went and everyone went flying off, I probably started too far back but soon found my way through. We had 3 laps of the longer circuit, making it about 12K with a few small hills and lots of mud. Found it VERY hard going and everyone around were very competitive, though I seemed to be running virtually exclusively with the vets! By the end of the second lap I really wasn't looking forward to the 3rd and I didn't even know if I would make it at the pace I was going! But I spent the whole lap chasing a fellow club member who I was determined to beat. I closed the gap from 50 meters to about 30 then slowly closed it until I had caught him stayed with him for a bit then made a move with less than a 3rd of the lap to go and he didn't react but stayed close behind.

As I was approaching the finish a guy that had been running near me for a while decided to make a move and opened up I reacted and kept with him, he sped up more and another guy stuck with us; about 100 meters to go and I wasn't going to let them beat me! I picked up again and they followed, I dug deep and put everything into it by now I was sprinting as fast as I could; one last pushed and I put air between us and crossed the line before both of them . I handed my chip in then shook both their hands and joined everyone else by putting my hands on my knees and breathing extremely heavily!!! I finished 158th out of 349. So I was very pleased with that. Bring on the nationals! Full results.
