Fido2Dogs Could have saved a few seconds by getting people to hand me my own bottle from the start - didn't realise you could yell ahead for this - had to double back @ first couple of tables. 
Should have put a bit of gaffer tape on the iPod to waterproof it! It conked out when the heavens opened after ~30k.
Did not have a concrete target time so pacing was variable - a gain is there to be made from even pacing.
Will try caffeine gels towards end in next long race - do they help more or do they make you wee?
More abs/posture work needed. 
But in general kept Ron Hill's advice in mind:
