hannkies Just under a minute down on last year. Most others I spoke to were the same so not overly concerned though. Also hadn't intended doing this race till the previous night. Finished 4th of 106, just behind Cammy whose probably our clubs top junior, and Ian Connell - another clubmate - who was 2nd. Big Killie Harriers turnout, all running well.

ian9657 This, somewhat challenging race, held on a warm summer evening, started on grass in the field next to the castle. After leaving the field the route took a sharp right towards Loans and then a sharp left along the single lane back road to Symington. The route seemed to consist of one hill followed by another as we slowly made our way towards the famous Wheatsheaf Inn. However rather than getting the drink which we were in need of we were marshalled off to our left and along the much, much, flatter, long and winding 'main road' from Symington back towards Dundonald, where a sharp left into the Castle led us back to the start/finish and a much needed bottle of water. Some 106 racers took part including 7 French runners from Troon's twin town. I finished 51st in a time 48.44. Given that it was the first time I had ran a 10.5k, I guess I can claim my time as a PB !
No T-shirt, no medal, no banana or mars bar, no chip time just a good old fashioned race through the gorgeous Ayrshire countryside at a bargain £3.
A Robertson, Hamilton Harriers was first to finish in 35.30 and the first woman was Janet Murray, Kilmarnock Harriers in 44.59 with the last runner completing the course in 71.25.

The Belly Is Gaun Tae Get Ye Might as well do this this as a sharp shock to get the system in race mode. Must be 10 years since I last ran this one. Can't find record of time, but do remember it is very hilly.
