Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Blister Well the track meeting itself was great and the weather was perfect - it was really impressive watching the young talent running fast times including 4:00:xx for 1500m in the men's A race and 8:30 for 3000m. I'm very impressed with the organisation done by BMC. Unfortunately my run was a load of sh*t, can't really say much on it TBH, I could come up with loads of excuses but at the end of the day I just can't run fast over long distances. I was put in the mixed race (there were 3 races: 9:45, 8:55 and 8:30 pace, the 9:45 was the mixed one which I was in) which was mainly girls who were mostly younger (and faster!) than me.

We had 3 pacers in our race (every race had pacers which was great) - 78, 80 and 84 secs per lap pacers, plan was to stick with the 80 sec pacer which would get me in at 10:00 exactly but after one lap wasn't feeling good and couldn't hold onto the group and they slowly drifted away (felt really strange being beaten by so many girls at once!). I went through the mile in about 5:30 which was about 5 secs slower than last week; I managed to increase the pace slightly for the rest of the race and finished with a quick 400m after catching two girls who I beat in the end.

My stomach was really hurting for most of the second half (and really hurt during the last 800m), it felt a bit like someone had poured acid all over it! Maybe it was because I hadn't eaten anything since about 1:30pm and my race didn't start until 8:50pm? Anyway I was really disappointed with the time, I felt like I was running faster (mind you I was the only one who wasn't wearing spikes, that would have made some difference) and thought I'd be on for at least 10:15. Don't know my finish position but I was almost last out of about 15 or so.
