Foyle Valley Athletic Club was founded in 1992, and is an all ability athletic club based in Northern Ireland in the historic City of Derry/Londonderry, which has a total population of some 125000 people.
The maiden city club is recognized throughout Ireland for achieving individual and team honors at various distances. Foyle Valley prides itself in welcoming runners of abilities, so if you are looking to do your first 5K/10K, Half-marathon or Marathon we can help you to achieve your dream by developing a running schedule that will suit your needs.
Foyle Valley hold a proud tradition as specializing in long distance running, indeed in the unique history of the club they have won All-Ireland marathon team titles on no less than four occasions, with the most recent award being at the Dublin Marathon in 2004. In January 2005, the club also managed to win the Northern Ireland veterans cross-country team championship at Bangor.
The club is mostly made up of veteran runners but are actively looking to develop Male & Female Senior squads and welcome new members no matter what their age, race, creed or gender.
Foyle Valley A.C. is known as the friendly club and its club logo is “en masse “which is Latin for “all together”. Now Foyle Valley has over 60 members, with a steady increase in numbers over the past few years. The club also holds an annual 5-mile race “The Wilkies Classic” (usually in May) in memory of their late running colleague Colm Wilkinson.
So if you are looking to join in some competitive action or just achieve your own personal best timing Foyle Valley just might be the club you are looking for and can be contacted via e-mail at the following address (foylevalleyac.com)
