FEATURE 1930Funky Chicken 18th Sep 2024Still seeing the 'Egg Hunt!' tab in Fetchpoint, might a Halloween version also prove popular, with pumpkins, witches' hats and candy, or some sort of 'trick or treat' points system to add an element of randomness to the scoring? |
FEATURE 1913Winniefree 24th Aug 2024Is it possible when moving location in any of the GPS games settings - i.e. moving your WSW grid, Fetchpoint circle, Rundle numbers or Hide and Seek grid, for the map to default to your current location on opening?
Bright Strider says: A search box and a find me button would be helpful.
Bright Strider says: This approach has potential drawbacks. You might be on your way to where you will be, but not there yet. In which case, current location would not be what you wanted. Pothunter says: Unless youāre on your mobile your device may not know where you actually are. |
FEATURE 1765Rosehip 1st Jan 2024Would having separate games leagues published on the club pages help with spreading the Fetcheveryone name - friendly local rivalry in fetchpoint or conquercise or Fetch miles? Thereās a request below for more club leagues, that and a games one? |
FEATURE 1747Sampson 7th Dec 2023Consolidate notifications (into a single notification) where they contain the same text and take you to the same URL, e.g. WSW score updates, Fetchpoint updates.
SpartanMyth says: Yes in general, but for WSW I like to know how many times my opponent has been extending their lead since my last login! Perhaps a "Ć4" note could indicate the number of collapsed messages?
|
FEATURE 1664JCB 17th Jul 2023Badge page: where applicable, have a link to an appropriate page. e.g. for mileage badge, link to the training log: for a fetchpoint/WSW/conquercise/rundle badge, link to the game; etc. |
FEATURE 1613Shortcut Cam 11th Apr 2023Have a bike (and run) category called Fetchpoint
RunningRonnie says: Why would people select "No" here? Meh is understandable if you wouldn't use it, but you would not ever see it if you don't want it.
chunkywizard says: perhaps people don't want Fetch to waste time of this instead of a feature they voted for? Pothunter says: I use tags for this type of thing so I can filter by activities |
FEATURE 1594Bright Strider 7th Mar 2023Fetchpoint Spectator Bug Specify a race day. Upload the course. On the day, your day's bug appears on the course. You pick it up and squash it (if it is out or goes out of your circle). After a marathon, you have done your exercise for the day.
Bright Strider says: One can move one's homepoint to where the race is and select 'Inaccessible' until the bug is on the course. But that would be time consuming and unpopular with family and friends.

FEATURE 1225DocM 28th Sep 2021Fetchpoint: separate cycling/multisport (to include those who have both cycled and run in the last 30 days) and walking/running only onto two separate leader boards.
says: I think this is good. I am well aware I am only at the top of the board because I cycle. I would be at the very bottom just walking... Happy to be separated from the runners, as I cannot run!
āŖā« Synge āŖā« says: Iāll admit to not being active in this just now, but what if I just do one little ride to shops and all the rest is running, am I DQād for a month? says: Good point Synge... Cheekyās Dad says: As a non-cyclist it can seem a little strange that you plant flowers at the same rate on a bike when you can travel much further than you can on foot but then the same applies for running as compared with walking. I think, in the end, thatās just the g Cheekyās Dad says: ā¦ thatās just the game says: Cheeky, I think you are right... I walk and cycle but do not run for example. Would there then need to be a separate league for walkers as well? Cheekyās Dad says: Indeed and (as pointed out above) how many people only do one thing? And then weāll have swimmers feeling left out. Nightmare! š Initially I was all for it but now Iām thinking probably best leave well alone says: Yes, same here! gwowen says: Maybe one leader board, but you can filter out people who log mores miles cycling than running? milemonster says: I love the idea of separation but think it should be done by a filter. So there's still one league but can be filtered for points picked up by a certain sport. But then what about bugs? Or maybe points picked up on a bike could be worth less? But then wha milemonster says: ... Thinking about the bugs, jewells etc in my neighbourhood; some are in tight spots so running is easier than cycling to get those! Overall though cycling is easier to get to the top. milemonster says: Maybe a solution is an opt in marker for your username to have a "primary sport" symbol next to it. E.g Milemonster šš»āāļø JCB says: One idea: select the type of fetchpointing you want. Full. Run only. Cycle only. Walk only. Then only the appropriate activities are used for fetchpointing. |
FEATURE 1148Dvorak 9th Jun 2021As well as showing a "best ever" total for Fetchpoint, show a rolling 365 day best. A lot of best evers will be very hard targets, but 365 days bests can be more attainable.
Snail says: A graph of the last 365 days would be cool too
|
FEATURE 1108Bright Strider 20th Apr 2021Fetchpoint: bump bug. Reasons for marking a bug as inaccessible: 1 Permanent inaccessibility. 2 Temporary inaccessibility. 3 Lack of local knowledge. Add 'Bump' as a move option for bugs. It would move the bug but not mark the spot as inaccessible.
Bright Strider says: Wrt to lack of local knowledge, the players might be on holiday or visiting for work, both of which might mean that the territory is unfamiliar and that their time is not theirs alone.
StuH says: Too tempting for some to bump a bug because the CBA to go down that cul-de-sac. I was shocked at the amount accessible points blocked when I scrolled around the map. Bright Strider says: Well, completely. This feature would avoid the CBAers 'polluting the pool' by abusing the inaccessible option. If they CBA, then any hope that they will remove the inaccessible marker having marked something accessible as inaccessible is probably vain. Ho Bright Strider says: However, a 'bump' link would give them a quick way of not polluting the pool. Bright Strider says: 'Your circle, your rules,' is oft repeated in the context of marking bugs as inaccessible. However, there is only one set of inaccessible markers, not one set per player; the maxim is not 'your circle, your inaccessible markers, your rules'. Playing by 'y Bright Strider says: Playing by 'your circle, your rules' does not have to pollute the pool, and 'bump' would make keeping it clean a bit easier, so more likely to be done. Nightjar says: I'd say lack of local knowledge could be considered the same as temporarily inaccessible. How long do you want it marking for though? Nightjar says: The algorithm for marking any area ought to be somewhat temporary so that eventually bugs creep back but if you are actively playing then you would mark any new ones too. Bright Strider says: There are two mechanisms: mark it as accessible or go through it. Iām not sure the second method always works. Expiry would create more work for Fetch and his server, and local players. |
FEATURE 1038StuH 17th Jan 2021Fetchpoint - Can we have a setting to turn off score notifications? |
FEATURE 984theOtherRichard 19th Nov 2020Fetchpoint: bug nudge feature Sometimes a bug is _just_ out of reach - and rather than using the nuclear option of marking it inaccessible, it would be good to just bump it across a little bit to avoid running through the cornfield.
theOtherRichard says: Maybe once a week, you can re-centre a bug somewhere within its existing circle of influence?
JCB says: Try moving your home point. The bugs will respawn š Oscar the Grouch says: That was a top tip! Autumnleaves says: Or open shortcuts at the top of the screen, add training second option down. Autumnleaves says: Sorry wrong feature! āŖā« Synge āŖā« says: Marking a circle as inaccessible isn't nuclear, as it gets reversed next time someone goes there. cerid says: No, itās not a badge factory theOtherRichard says: Thanks all. I'll carry on as we were then. And use JCB's top tip. |
FEATURE 963Night-owl 26th Oct 2020In fetchpoint a badge for being bug free for a year
Drell says: tbh, some of us have enough trouble getting bug free for a single day...
Night-owl says: Think my record is about 2 weeks but some managed it lol StuH says: I haven't managed 30 days, but those that have managed a whole year certainly deserve a badge. Gooner says: Maybe stages up to it too as 30 days to a year is a bit of a leap! DocM says: would be good to have a few badges for more than 30 days MisterTea says: Need some more badges to get me back into this game. Yes to a year - but only if 2, 6, 9 months added as well Bright Strider says: The game cycle is 30 days,; it used to be a year. Let's not take it too seriously. Bright Strider says: The game cycle is 30 days,; it used to be a year. Let's not take it too seriously. geordiegirl says: I canāt even be bug free for a day š Night-owl says: I admit Bright Strider has a good point |
FEATURE 947P.DuBā¢ļø 15th Oct 2020how bout a Dyson Badge. you can get this by 'cleaning up' your Fetchpoint map
StuH says: Hoover
Sigh says: So, to keep it brand neutral, a "You Suck!" badge? Bright Strider says: What sort of cleaning? Total bug squashing? Marking several 'inaccessibles'? JCB says: My mind thought getting all gems, bugs, etc. I did this once and hoped for a prize of some sort. P.DuBā¢ļø says: i was thinking more like getting all bugs and gems, just bugs is too easy says: I cleaned mine up of all bugs, jewels etc, thinking that would attract a bonus but it didn't. Was a real pain, all walking, very hilly too... Half my cirvle is on the slope of a 700 metre high hill! |
FEATURE 936westmoors 5th Oct 2020Please could Fetchpoint and Hide+Seek have the long/lat/nickname for setting the homepoint like WSW. |
FEATURE 864Mr Stick 24th Aug 2020Fetchpoint markers table - Please add "last visited" column. It would be helpful to know when I next need to visit my traffic lights, etc without clicking on each of them on the map.
Gooner says: I voted no because I feel it's part of the game. They can be a valuable resource in busy areas so they should require a little work to maintain. Can't make everything too easy.
westmoors says: Agree with Gooner Mr Stick says: @Gooner - Surely the effort is in the running / riding not in clicking on the map. JCB says: Voted yes logopetria says: I agree, the fun of the game is in the running, not the laborious fiddling with the UI |
FEATURE 861Bright Strider 21st Aug 2020Fetchpoint Change 1 traffic light in the player's circle to a Dutch roundabout, every week. The roundabout levies no charge, but the owner's FetchEveryone skin goes Dutch (orange with tulips and windmills).
Bright Strider says: camcycle.org.uk
Bright Strider says: A Dutch roundabout is a people-friendly traffic calming measure suited to residential areas, such as Fetchpoint players' circles. Bright Strider says: The player chooses one, or none. It is not random. Drell says: I'm not sure about the orange skin, but I like the idea of being people friendly Bright Strider says: Thanks, Drell. The orange skin could be voluntary, or temporary. E.g. Bright Strider says: ā¢ Do you want to turn the Dutch skin on? Bright Strider says: ā¢ The Dutch skin has been turned on for an hour. Do you like it? Bright Strider says: Using the Dutch skin could earn you a 'Gone Dutch' badge. Bright Strider says: Cambridge has the UK's first Dutch roundabout, as the article that the first comment links to says. There will be an item about it on BBC 1 TV channel in the 'One Show' on Tuesday, all being well. Bright Strider says: It does seem reasonable to me that people should be able to move around their own circles without being congestion charged. says: There is a Dutch skin???? |
FEATURE 794stocksr 13th Jul 2020Fetchpoint - Map view split bugs, traffic lights, flowers, and relay toggles into two one for mine and one for others. |
FEATURE 768milemonster 25th Jun 2020Fetchpoint: diamonds that can only be picked up by running over them. This should help level the field. I can't seem to get into the top 10 with just running. Everyone in the top 10 is cycling so it feels like a cycling competition at the moment.
Sampson says: All gems could be for runners/walkers/swimmers(?) only. Most of the leaders have relatively few points from gems.
Bright Strider says: When cycling, I tend not to take footpaths, on which tokens do appear. I also run, and this provides an opportunity to collect those tokens. Nonrunners will find such tokens less appealing. MisterTea says: The top players have hardly any gem points so won't make much difference. MisterTea says: 13 out of the top 15 have more flower points than my highest ever score. The only way to balance it up is to do something with flowers JCB says: Anyone interested in flowers, I made a suggestion about them being dropped at different rates: fetcheveryone.com/featurerequests-open.php?sort=id#feature194 Drell says: I agree that flowers are where change might help Heinzster says: Flowers drop every 5 minutes? That way faster cyclists would plant flowers much further apart. Badger says: The every 5 minutes idea is a good one I think |
FEATURE 743ftrobbie 14th Jun 2020In Fetchpoint can we have the daily activity results shown in the same order day to day, rather than in the order they were activated |
FEATURE 741iRicey 12th Jun 2020In Fetchpoint, when clicking on one's infected bugs, the pop-up displays who has infected it, allowing one to wreak revenge.
Gooner says: Just infect everybody else's bugs, then you cover all bases
Flatlander says: This suggestion seems like encouraging vindictiveness. Bright Strider says: I'm with Flatlander on this. Let he who seeks revenge first dig two graves. One for his victim, and one for himself. |
FEATURE 685JCB 19th May 2020Fetchpoint: nymph Add nymph stage for the š. This is not collectable; just indicates where the daily bug will mature. Created some time before midnight (maybe even at current daily š creation time). Matures just after midnight/or normal timing.
Bright Strider says:
Bright Strider says: How about normal bug, but matures at normal time, but according to local time zone? Oranj says: Good idea, but I still want it earlier, I think |
FEATURE 659MisterTea 7th May 2020Fetchpoint: Option to purchase & place a toll booth. Either fixed penalty or a % of flowers picked on the ride. Max 1 toll booth per player (only available if density=0 (no traffic lights)). Could regular commuters purchase a season ticket?
chunkywizard says: is this fair being only allowed if density=0? I believe the game is consider to be balanced at the moment independantly of density, could this skew the game if favour of density=0?
MisterTea says: If you have density=0 you never get access to any traffic lights Bright Strider says: I think that the presence of traffic lights is more to do with activity than the number of residents. MisterTea says: I don't think that's right BrightStrider Bright Strider says: Yes, if it has to be in your circle, and without the density condition. Bright Strider says: I see why you'd think that Vancouver Jogger, but my circle has six traffic lights even though my density is zero. Bright Strider says: I've voted yes, with the conditions I mentioned above. milemonster says: Could this be abused? I like the idea but what if someone got one then moved their home area and placed it on a popular route. Fetch would need to write in a code so that it can only be placed in the true 0 density area. JCB says: Density 0 is not the same as not having anyone nearby. Having someone a little ways away then enables traffic lights to show up (Iāve tested). No activities need to be logged by nearby neighbour. MisterTea says: The condition on toll booths would be that you donāt have traffic lights Bright Strider says: Thanks, JCB. Good to know. JCB says: Youāre welcome BS. Good point MM. VJ, yes that makes sense. Iāve voted yes Shortcut Cam says: You used to be able to buy traffic lights but this option disappeared a few years ago for reason forgotten |
FEATURE 657Bright Strider 6th May 2020Fetchpoint: Armour: halves penalties. Charger (steed/horse): +50% to points. Supercharger: doubles points. chunkywizard proposed poison to halve points gained, and oil slicks, to prevent collection of objects.
westmoors says: But only for that activity.
Bright Strider says: westmoors, only for Fetchpoint, do you mean? westmoors says: Obviously its only for Fetchpoint! I meant that boosting/reducing points/penalties only applies to the activity in which the booster/reducer markers are collected. Bright Strider says: Oh, I see. That's an interesting idea, westmoors, but Fetchpoint does not currently distinguish activities. That's not to say it couldn't, but it might involve a lot of work for Fetch. Cost vs benefit. milemonster says: I'd save my doubler for a long run! |
FEATURE 656Bright Strider 6th May 2020Fetchpoint: weekly challenge. Item or a little friend to collect. For the rest week they gain points for each day that they run with you within your circle. Found in your circle. DocM's idea. Or you could have to go and fetch it in to the circle. |
FEATURE 655Bright Strider 6th May 2020Fetchpoint: dragons (point drainers) and their hoards (jewels) to appear in uncharted (desolate) areas. Might be countered by swords-in-stones (like relays, but are carried to dragons) in church precincts.
JCB says: Nice! Sounds like a new genre of fetchpoint: fetchpointPlus
|
FEATURE 654Bright Strider 6th May 2020Fetchpoint: choose your super power for the week. E.g. invisible flowers, immunity to traffic lights, your bugs are always in convenient places, no bugs. There might be less desirable side effects. E.g. with the no-bugs power, no bug bonus.
JCB says: FetchpointPlus?
|
FEATURE 653Bright Strider 6th May 2020Fetchpoint: make flower colour personal; randomly assigned colour initially, but resettable to one that the Fetchie likes. Inspired by chunkywizard.
NDWDave says: Could be like bugs. A colour for yours and one for everyone else
chunkywizard says: Dave that would work for me, especially if the values of them were shown without having got click on them Bright Strider says: Possible, certainly. See feature 652 for not having to click. |
FEATURE 652Bright Strider 6th May 2020Fetchpoint: show object details after a short period of mouse hovering, rather than clicking. A second or two might be a long enough wait period. Inspired by chunkywizard. |
FEATURE 638DocM 17th Apr 2020more fetchpoint badges. Maybe a target number of particular gems per month. badges for highest number of points on a day eg 200, 400, 500, 1000. number of flowers planted or owned
BareHeadEm says: Amount of points from trafic lights? Getting into top 100/50/10 etc
Pothunter says: āStealingā an 80 point traffic light? chunkywizard says: Yes please! roberton says: Not keen on traffic light ones (I've no one to play with š„) but voted yes for more FP badges. JCB says: I donāt see traffic lights either. In a country where there are few fetchies yet great distances means no one near for 50km as the crow flies (100km by land). BareHeadEm says: There is a big jump between 10k and 25k badge too |
FEATURE 607Bright Strider 7th Mar 2020Fetchpoint. Commuting route reward, for not driving. The commuter receives points for going through traffic lights on the commuting route. Wiggle room for necessary route changes. Perhaps one should be allowed to miss traffic lights out, on the way.
Bright Strider says: Rather than defining a commuting route, it might be simpler to define a work point, as well as a home point.
AndyS says: I think the home/work points are preferable to a specific route - back in the before-times (when I actually commuted), I'd vary rarely use the same route twice in a week, to avoid them getting stale. Bright Strider says: Thanks, AndyS. A sound idea. JCB says: Could this be based on the activity type being "Run / Commute"? Bright Strider says: Yes, and other active commute modes. Bright Strider says: Yes, and other active commute modes. |
FEATURE 538Badger 28th Jan 2020A badge for having a positive score every day in the month for Fetchpoint.
Pothunter says: I was going to suggest this too
|
FEATURE 489George Smiley 29th Dec 2019On Fetchpoint could map stay on last place looked at rather than going back to home point when refreshed? It's a bit of an irritation if away for few days and don't want to move home point.
ishep says: Even better, add a "where am I?" button. Even even better, make it poll every couple of seconds so a mobile browser can show where you are on the map while running
|
FEATURE 453BareHeadEm 8th Dec 2019In fetchpoint, the ability to mark an area as inaccessible to you. It might be woodland that is unsafe for a lone female... Or an army base that you can't access, but someone else can? Accessible to one isn't necessarily accessible to all. |
FEATURE 392JCB 22nd Oct 2019Fetchpoint: the game š A way of marking a rectangular area as inaccessible. Handy for large water areas. I still have occasional things to mark as inaccessible 7 months after moving. š
JCB says: After almost one year later then the request, I have only a handful of inaccessible spots left to be marked.
chunkywizard says: I still think it's a good idea! |
FEATURE 328Drell 18th Sep 2019As well as showing your best ever score on your Fetchpoint home page, show your worst ever as well. I think I've just achieved mine, but it would be nice to know if I was right. |
FEATURE 269JCB 19th Jul 2019Training Entry: add fetchpoint summary Add a table for the fetchpoint summary, showing number of bugs, diamonds, etc collected/moved. |
FEATURE 244JCB 25th Jun 2019Fetchpoint: flower dropping nudge On the same route flowers will try to drop on same places as before. Adding 80m, then 160m, etc, before regular route can be used=too much brain, less fun. Flower drop at open GPS point before used spot=great fun. |
FEATURE 198JCB 24th May 2019Fetchpoint: the game. We need a Hugh Jackman! When a 'random' item is collected, there's a random chance of a Hugh Jackman being placed down. Hugh Jackman could be worth two diamonds, perhaps. |
FEATURE 194JCB 23rd May 2019Fetchpoint: the game. Have the distance between flowers be based on the type of activity. Currently everything is 0.5 mi. Keep cycling at 0.5 mi, but running at 0.25mi and walking at 0.125mi (or a trail of breadcrumbs for every spot).
DocM says: top suggestion.
MisterTea says: In addition have a different watering 'chance' so that flowers are watered more often for running and walking than cycling JCB says: Yes, that random chance of watering flies in the face of planning, but changing the odds might be good. Or have it predictable for running/walking/etc MisterTea says: In my mind the flower return should be similar based on time training regardless of activity. |
FEATURE 171JCB 17th May 2019Fetchpoint inaccessible marking: Specify Scope and Duration. Scope = Global or personal (e.g. I don't swim so a point in water is inaccessible to me). Duration = Permanent/One year/One month (e.g. land being developed, road closed temporarily).
JCB says: Or COVID 19 social distancing in force...
|
mk parkrun says: And a Christmas one. I've just seen Santa on my walk, that deserves points š
