Cormorant Well, I told myself before this race, it couldn't be as wet as last year.So of course the rain and wind were constant: the last two, head-down miles along the Southsea seafront were like fighting your way across the cabin to shut a porthole in a storm. Great event though. As for my run: slower than last year but another advert for what you can get away with without doing any proper training.

gray Dunno where it came from, but that was a personal best - must have been the support.
The people of Portsmouth also deserve medals, goodie bags and space blankets, for coming out in large numbers to support the runners in the horizontal rain (which seems a regular feature of the Southsea micro-climate).
Thanks also to everybody at The Apsley House for the food, beer, shelter, warmth and a unique sequence of songs on the jukebox (Bachelor Boy, Stairway to Heaven, Nessun Dorma finished off with Vindaloo.....(indeed, none shall sleep...).
See you next year.

Rach E Absolutely ecstatic with my time today. I was slower than I'd ideally wished for, but given the wind (it actually blew me backwards mid-stride in mile 8-9) I am very very happy (the elites I spoke to afterwards were all 2-3 mins behind what they hoped for). Mile splits: 5:47 (lol); 5:56; 6:10; 6:00; 6:11; 6:21; 6:12; 6:21; 6:53 (ouch the wind!); 6:40. 5k: 18:15; 5 mile: 30:00; 10k: 37:42 (new pb!!). It was a fantastic experience to run as an

Blister I was so annoyed today because I knew that I was capable of running under 63 minutes...but that bloody 31mph wind... I went through 5K in 19:06 (1 second quicker than my PB last year), 5 miles in 31:04 (PB by 1:32) and 10K in 38:50 (PB by 12 seconds) and still felt strong despite the fact I had stitch after the first mile! Started picking up the pace a bit and felt relatively good until just after 8 miles and then I went around the bend to the sea front and WHAM! hit the wind. But it is still a PB by 2:30 in worse conditions so I can't really complain with my performance. According to the results I finished 144th out of 11481 including the elite men and women. Enjoyed meeting loads of new Fetchies and catching up with others I already knew, would have liked to have stayed longer in the pub but went for some food.

Berni Bloody awful weather, got a fastish start but nearly came a cropper when somebody caught my heel. Running into the wind at the start was a bit off putting but just had to get on with it, part of the challenge. Got through the 10K mark in 41:20ish, faster than I've ever run a 10K. The run in (last 2 miles) was hard work but I had a PB in my sights and I wasn't going to let it go, felt really good crossing the line, chuffed as hell, a PB the day after my 55th birthday.

Konaboy I'm going for it! Did 10m split at 1:14:xx at Wokingham half in Feb & feel good for PB on this super flat course. UPDATE: Bit disappointed with result. Felt I pushed pretty hard up to 8miles then running into the gale & rain for the last 2 miles took at least 2mins out of me. Also started near back of the Orange wave so for 1st 3miles had to work hard weaving in & out of runners. I've changed my mind wrt potential for PBing on this course due to congestion (unless at the front) & the headwind on the seafront (which I think even on a slightly breezy day will be hardwork). Nevertheless it was a good day out esp. the post-race beers.

*update* 26th August: 3 weeks without running due to further injury. Chance of a PB now getting slim as won't be training properly till after holiday, leaving me with 7 weeks to get race fit.

That was one tough race. Was on about 7.40 pace till the last 2 miles; as expected, the headwind was something wicked. Probably lost 1-2mins in the final 1.5 miles, but still managed a PB, so very happy.

DIY Diva Don't know how congested this is going to be to make any attempt to PB. Will see how it goes and possibly just take it easy and enjoy it. UPDATE What a brill race. Loved how you could see fellow fetchies going the other way. Saw John66, Kitty, Boo, Tarange, + 2 others. Ran with Footpad for the first mile. Saw BB after. PBertie in the traffic jam there. and last but not least STUMPY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN THAT WEATHER XXX

PhilMathe Was my first competitive race, and I found it really enjoyable...annoyed that I could have gone faster if I hadn't paced myself for a 90minute run...last 2 miles along the sea front were great!!

The Wizard A great race even though it was wet and windy. The support around the course was outstanding. The event was well organised. Managed a PB which I was delighted with. I will certainly be back next year.

Garmin time result, about a minute solwer than last year but that's cool. Hated 'THAT' wind but hey ho!

BenDy Still struggling with an iffy hamstring. All I'm looking for is a finish!!! ***UPDATE*** Despite the dredful weather, a stinking cold & the event transport from Victoria station arriving late I made it round in just yunder 88 mins. I should have been pleased but I felt so bloody awful I really didn't care!!!

TomM Hoping for a better time this year, but that depends on the weather.
Update: I had the bright idea of dropping down from the White to the Green start to run with two club mates who are a similar pace. The result speaks for itself. Woohoo!

Making_Tracks 95 mins - 10 miles.... oh well, nice cool pint at the end. See you at the Jolly Sailor.

I really enjoyed the race today despite the 'orrible weather. Great to see so many Fetchies, both old faces and new.

Happy with my time (Garmin, will up date with chip later) as this is not that far off my half marathon PB.

TheBeetroot Sorry to all who bet on me, I'm gutted about the 4 secs :-( Got a cold 2 days before the race and literally didn't sleep a wink the night before with the cough and sore throat. Ran anyway as it wasn't on my chest, and was on for a 4 min PB at 8 miles till the last 2 miles when my legs died and I could only manage 13.5 min miles into the wind - running all the way, although I wouldn't have been much slower walking! Speeded up at 800m to go and managed a sort of desperate sprint at 200 as I realised how close I was to my PB, and was just about dead on my feet at the line. My chip had to be removed for me as I was too tired to bend down! 30 min scalding hot shower back at the hotel did nothing to warm me up, too cold to even shiver. Hardest medal I have ever earned. Of course I am going to do it again next year!

Pegg Raining, windy...found it really tough to find a rhythm and struggled through miles 3&4. Miles 5&6 seemed never ending but the support was fantastic. Then with four miles to go I started to enjoy myself - despite the evil headwind and lashing rain through the last 1.5miles. Very excited that I got a new pb!
