My third lap was a little slower, that's why I didn't break 39 minutes.
I was leapfrogging with 2 younger runners during the third lap. In retrospect I should have left them sooner. But a 10k is such a hard distance to run all by yourself. When we passed the finish line for the third time the announcer said "these 3 gentlemen are going to battle it out in the last lap" and that's when I dug deep and and started to gradually drop them.
