37:28 is still an incredibly impressive time though @Brunski .

That experience of the spectators not really knowing where your head or body is at is a funny one. Had the same in London, whilst I was trying to smile at spectators to let them know I wasn't bothered I was walking, it was easier to hide in the crowd by jogging back!

Tough luck Brunski, sometimes it just isn't your day.

That is an impressive time with the walking.

Training is never wasted. Hope it gets you what you want at the next few parkruns and future 10ks.

Larkim it was other runners rather than spectators that were asking if I was OK. I wisely decided they'd not appreciate the full story of why I'd decided to walk when it got a bit tough; that I could have accepted the slowing pace and got to the end, or welcomed the hurt to try and maintain pace.

Who wants to hear that eh?

Bit of perspective required from me, when I'm competitive I can be competitive. When there's nothing to chase (no PB or age prize glory) I take the path of least resistance.

Turn 50 before this race is ran again and a 36:2* won the age prize yesterday, might be easier to motivate myself when there's a target like that to chase.

Sorry to hear it didn’t go as well as you wanted. Can be hard when things are not going right or you just don’t feel right. Hopefully you are happy with the training you did if not the result.

The training has been great, I think I'm fitter than I showed yesterday and should go well the next time I run a hard 5k.

It’s great that you were happy with the training.

Good Rother valley could be a good one. There is a couple of potentially quick 10ks in next few weeks (Bolsover next weekend and Cleethorpes New Years Day) but both may be sold out now.

Shame it didn't go to plan Brunski. A very respectable time still, albeit not up to the standards you set yourself.
