Misposted this in the sub 3 thread and am now busy blushing as that's not my area!!
Nearly succumbed to the weather tonight, after putting off 10m with 5x1k last night and watching the weather be dry all day, left myself the only rainy and windy part of the day to get it done. After getting soaked on the warm up, was cautious at the start, but last four reps were bang in line with the equivalent session on the way to Chester last year, and the final rep was the fastest of the lot (3:38).
Glad my route for reps is made up of one 440m loop so the wind impact gets nullified
Also noticed that this month is likely to be my highest volume ever. Not much by standards round here at 210 but it's sneaked up on me, helped with my Lent commitment to at least 2 miles a day. Just need the trails to dry out a bit now whilst everyone else gets excited about spring marathons proper.

See my post on the sub 3 thread Larks. I have a view that anyone belongs on any thread if they input. That’s the vibe I have always got round here. I treat it like club conversations. I wouldn’t not talk to people who were 5hr marathon runners and likewise I would talk to people if they were sub 2:15 ..
Maybe I have it wrong!

Bakedbeano, I don’t actually think MP running is a great way of training for marathons. Necessary to do a bit but it’s not a major focus for me. Lots of threshold (roughly half marathon pace) in chunks of 5-10 mins at first, 15-20 towards the end of the campaign.

+1 what JDA said. Threshold running better than MP for me. I could knock out 10 @ MP without getting 'that' near threshold, IMO training closer to threshold, or even above for shorter reps gives more than running MP for X miles.
Save your MP fir the race!

Sorry you’ve had to withdraw Lou. Will you be on cow-bell ringing duty, or staying at home and avoiding the crowds?

* saying that with the matathon just a matter of weeks away. I guess at the start of a training block your eventual MP would/could be close, or above your threshold (depending on your training to that point).

Sorry to hear that Gus and Lou. Can’t wait for Manchester, put in a lot of miles, tried to follow P&D <55/wk so maybe sub 3:15 is possible but being pragmatic a sub 3:20 is more likely.

Fergus - I will be in London and will be out somewhere supporting - last year we went to Limehouse. It was a bit of a 'mare getting to the finish. I may try and run between places to spectate this year!
Its the right decision for me - it was always a bit ambitious to think I could just start where I left out last year. I need to focus on where I've come from rather than what I've not done this year!
And I'll always have those 9 sub 3.15s and that precious 1 sub 3 to look back on!

Hope to see you on the course Lou. You have a fantastic race record to be proud of, one that most of us blokes in here comparatively will never achieve - Champs start, podium finishes and wins etc. G
