Pammie, with regards to exercise I'm much more of a morning person, I love it. Maybe that in itself gets my heart rate going, but it's probably the wake up call, asleep one minute, legging it 20 minutes later.

Hello Heart Rate geeks! Just to wade in, I definately have a lower HR in the morning, recent run with Joopsy was 5am, 9 miles, 68% for 9:30 pace. Evening run a few days after 72%, 6m 9:45pace.

Still only 55m run this year and RHR has gone back down to 47!! :):):):)

G,

okay and I agreed with you. So, do you think that the pace irregularity that MF was sharing is postive or negative? If he wanted to improve the disparity between the Am and PM what should he do?

With my willy firmly where it should be I have a sensible-ish question......

How does hill work fit in with the training ? If the average of the run should be below 70% what is the acceptable level for your HR to go up to on an incline ? 75 %, 80% or do you still have to keep below ?

I've been managing to keep it low, TBB.... hence the 16 minute miling. It's a joy honestly, you should try it.

About This Thread

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
