Eddie said: Just go out and enjoy the pain! At least unlike an ultra it will be over within the hour! Try and build into and not get carried away with the first few kms! Even splits and feeling strong are the mantra of the day!

Could I have worked harder? Yes, I probably could but this was my first 10k in YEARS and I was very aware of the need to not fall over.
