paulhalford My first half-marathon and I didn't enjoy the experience at all. On pace for 76:00 for most of the first half but gradually drifted off. Wheels totally came off in the last three miles and walking or pulling out even entered my head but managed to keep going at outside six-minute-mile pace. A mile never seemed as long to me as the last one today. I know I didn't run long enough to hit the wall but I can now start to appreciate what it might feel like. I had thought the distance may suit me but I won't be running another in a hurry. Excellent organisation and the mile markers didn't seem too erratic. Marts will be back from hols in ireland with minimal running so will be either
a) fresh as a daisy and set PB
or
b) knackered from hols, undertrained and not even make predicted time
UPDATE trained 42 miles in last week so poss overtrained? See what happens.
on course for PB til 10 miles (62:22) then slowed in last 5k but still passing people?? Finished 29th of 608.
Great run from paul helped team to 3rd out of 35. Werrington Joggers 1:18:56 1:19:34 1:21:00 1:22:47 70.05

tramps Although a PB by more than 4 mins, it was another poorly judged half-marathon. Paid dearly for the quick opening 5K.

Well organised event with plenty of water / sponges on this hot day. The vocal crowds gave a great boost. Saffron Striders RC 1:30:31 1:36:29 1:31:00 1:36:29 61.19
Longy What can you say, flat, flat and flat. No trees to protect from sun, if this race was in autum or winter, some great PBs would be had as it is an ideal course. Haverhill RC 1:25:12 1:36:47 1:40:00 1:36:47 59.97
Paulie Perfectly organised race with excellent crowd support on a flat and potentially very fast course. Trail Running Association, LDWA 1:29:49 1:33:51 1:37:06 63.59
Duncs Too hot, went off too fast too. Great race though. Personally I don't like long straight roads with no shade but what else are you going to get in the fens. 100 Marathon Club, Highland Hill Runners 1:31:19 1:37:13 1:40:00 1:39:34 58.99

Vicksta Well I wasnt expecting much of myself after 3 weeks of illness and stomach upsets and inability to run through that period, and I didnt do very well at all. 10 mins slower than my PB, and my slowest half marathon ever. The hot day didnt suit me either, the sun was unrelenting. If I had been on form it would be a good PB course, being quite flat, but sadly it was not to be. Harlow RC 1:36:55 1:44:43 1:45:00 1:56:43 55.37
Debbie G A very hot day - disappointed I didn't get a PB, but to be honest was just happy to finish ! Stowmarket Striders RC 1:48:04 1:59:48 1:58:00 1:59:48 55.60
