Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

TOtally bizarre run tonight, should have had a rest day but inspired by Joopsys cracking run I thought it might be the right day for this weeks speed session. My Pacing at speed is erratic at moment. 1m warm up, then set off on a fast mile, was fine up to 0.7m and then had to stop. Regained composure and then ran the last 0.3m fairly steadily. Surprised to see I did it in 7:02. I think I was running sub 6:30 pace for the first 0.7 so no wonder I bonked. After thatI turned it into a pretty hardcore fartlek session doing 200 - 400m or so of varying speeds from 6:00 to 10:00 pace. ABsolutely knackering, but due to short distances and my supremely fit being, HR only peaked at 85%. Fartlekked for 4m in total and could barely do the 1m warm down. In the end 8:34 pace for about 67% but all over the place pace wise.

Right, had enough of this you big southern nonces. Got up at 3am this morning, drove to Manchester and queued for Moscow tickets, then drove through to my Mums in Worksop, nr Sheffield.

Decided at 11am to take advantage of being off work and being so close to Sherwood Forest and went for a run in fantastic scenery.Parked the car and did a steady warm up run, down a steady drop all the way to the chapel on the lake in Clumber Park. Worked out at 2.35m, 9:23mm @ 63%.

Went into the chapel and had 10 minutes serenity before turning round and making the trip back up the incline but pushed a little harder and it was noticably warmer.

So, 2.35m, 8:33 @ 74%. Very happy with that glorious little workout.

To answer your question Lums, 85% on Sunday after 2 hours sleep and 24 degrees was 8:21!!

Feeling good!!!

Yes. So called biggest club in the world with their usual efficiency....not. They are without doubt the most customer unfriendly organisation in the world.

Unfortunately I am not going, I could justify £1,000 for a football match but Mrs J couldn't!! They are for one of my (ex) customers.

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
