_andy Muddy trail race in the Forest no dalmatians included. Set off at a sensible pace and drifted through the field for the first mile or so, moving steadily forward through the pack before the places settled down. After 2k, the route darted down a narrow muddy path, for a bit of slippery ride. Pushed hard, no holding back today. Got another place just beyond 4 miles as the runner in front slowed slightly in getting as cup of water and pushed hard for the long uphill that followed - although the two runners in front moved away from me here. Enjoyed the muddy downhill at 5.5 miles and flew down to close the 50 metres on the pair ahead. Felt I had a bit more on the rough trail around the loch below and ended up passing them - and then pushed a bit more to make it stick. As I rounded the end of the dam, I could see the five runners just behind (two more had been closing down steadily) - better keep pushing now. Just beyond the water station (again) at 7.5 miles, the runner in front (Moorfoot), who I'd been steadily closing on, had to fix a shoelace, so I kept on pushing and eventually closed the gap - as did two runners behind - no chance to do anything but push on hard now. I ran alongside the Moorfoot runner for maybe a mile, feeling ok, despite the steadily increasing pace. But we did end up dropping one of the runners in the group, and then the other faded too. And as the track closed down to a narrower trail and the trail became muddier, I found myself a pace ahead, so relaxed into the downhill and took the racing line. Almost there - onto the tarmac curves at the end - four bends with a runner hot on my heels. Racing line was taken for each one, with a slight increase in speed each time, and then a flat out sprint for the final 100m. This did the job and the bungee broke here, and a gap now opened up - six seconds by the finishing line. 11th place in the end, happy with that.

ARB73 Course not what I expected and definitely wearing the wrong shoes. Not as flat as expected but not too bad, decent route. Original plan was to run a second loop as lsr but didn't fancy my chances of finding my way around again.

Debstir Watch time (will update when chip time comes through). Great course, not as 'relatively flat' as advertised though ;) Managed a full-on face-plant in the 3rd mile. Someone had to!

silver birch Great wee race. Maybe the closest equivalent race in Scotland to a Lakeland Trail Race . Very well organised and loved the route . Would be great if there more races like these in Scotland ,,
