Waiting to see the cardiologists at the LGI ... you can get a RF Ablation (like Tony Blair did) but whether that's an option for me is another thing. I'll have to wait and see ... danged frustrating though!

Right the monitor has been dusted off and with Abingdon looming in the distance, I have started along the HR training route again......we will see.

Any advice?

DrDan - there are a number of different things that could cause you to have a run of SVT like that.
Hopefully your cardiologist will get to the bottom of it though!
Good luck!

DrDan, first thing I would do, would be to check my heart rate by some other means, when you are having one of these episodes, if possible. I think everyones HRM gives silly readings quite often, probably due to static build up or losing contact, especialy when it's windy out. Good luck anyway!

If it were an episode that was not accompanied by tangible symptoms, then you could perhaps point the finger at equipment malfunction. But in this case it was in the presence of clinical symptoms that would suggest an arrhythmia that was compromising Cardiac Output!

do more knowledgable fetchies think that the heat would be the reason my heart rate was higher today when i ran but my speed was slower? I usually run in the morning but darn it I had to work today! I waited until after 6 but i wa still very warm, uncomfortably so for me.

thank the lord for that - I was a bit worried - should I slow down to keep to 70% or accept that it will be high?

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
