This is fantastic. I am loving this thread more and more. Google do some good stuff and the frame by frame is wonderful for analysing. Well done Nick for putting this up. I agree with Cable's observations. I would concentrate first on aligning your posture by levelling your pelvis (vertical crunch) - if you can then think about falling forward and using your legs as momentary supports I think that your feet will move back naturally to under or behind your centre of gravity. Next the arms need to go backwards to balance the lean forwards and engage/promote core rotation. That's all for now. *Neil goes off to find a tripod, video camera and someone to film him*

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. Turning around 6 times in a short time was maybe not the best idea but wanted a longer piece of video for analysis. Posture seems to be a common problem and when I pause at the point my knees are together I certainly look a long way away from the ideal position!
Not sure how to view it frame by frame to look at calf push off though, could someone tell me how to do that on google video player. Will work on the main problems over the next couple of weeks and post a new clip. Continuous improvement is my aim really and the ethos that the process is the goal is something that attracted me to chi in the first place.
Have a good day all.

The problem with the Chi instrucotrs is the small matter of payment.
Golly you need to dwonload teh google video player then with each google clip to the left it says dwonlad for windows click that then you can view the clip in the video player - When it is downloaded you can pause the clip and use the back and forward arrow to see it frame by frame
Poppy dont run away come back we love you

Have you run today / yesterday Poppy? Nice to see you on here again, wouldn't be the same without you! Have you got that PC sorted yet?
6 miles for me, tried to take on board the advice offered. Much shorter steps and tried to keep core engaged. Will struggle getting arms invovled more because I am so used to not using them! Thanks again CT.

Yes still down it feels better aqfter physio and I am using the time to do the eccentric exercises only and I am not running on it at all - No brainer really as I seem to have built a second knee cap in front of the first - there is a lot of calcification - I am going to have shockwave therapy this week and then some ionotophoresis - if anything my knee will glow in the dark if nothing else

Calcification arounfd the top of the patellar tendon is now about 2cm across so it feels like a second knee cap - I think it is going to require surgery myself but i leave it to my PT and Doc.
Ionotophoresis is some ionising ray thing that blasts radio waves into the knee and it is done using a steroid paste so it takes that in without the need for needles. - hence the glowing reference
Shock waves promote more blood vessles in there and hopefully stimulate healing
If you were to meet me I will be the fat ex runner with a limp and two knee caps on my L knee

Poppy. Glad your run turned out good. Sounds like a body sensing run, adjusting the schedule to fit what suits your body that day is no bad thing. Have you got any races planned soon? Nothing in the book about chi preventing blisters is there, just one of those painful things! Hope the anti inflams calm that achilles down too.
CT you must be so frustrated. Good luck with this weeks treatment. It will be a good day when you post that things are looking up and you can run pain free again.
I will post another video, once I have implemented the obvious changes required. I found the whole exercise a really useful lesson. The main thing for me is the difference between how I really look and how I think I look. I knew cadence was low but was surprised at how unengaged my core was. Next time I think I'll wear a white t-shirt tucked into dark shorts so the hips are quite obvious.
Have tried the key things to improve today and done another video just for me to see and foot strike does seem to be a bit more under the cog. Lots of work needed on the column though. Have re-read the relevant points of the book and the feeling of doing a crunch troughout the run, trying to shorten the pelvis and chin distance, is one I will work on.
Have a good evening, one and all.

Tis a small world! Kate did Bristol last September, she was going well until her calf decided enough was enough along the Portway and her sub 2 hour plan went out of the window. She did 2 hrs 7 mins in the end. Must have been something in the air that day. As a spectator it seemed really busy and not my sort of half at all, give me quiet country lane any day - must be the country boy in me!!
Sounds like a good plan from your coach, make your next race a good race rather than rush into one. I remember you saying about a half marathon in October, are you going to start back with something shorter?
Thanks for your kind words, I think the life long learning process is a great way of putting it and having people kind enough to take a look at a video clip is a real bonus for me. Plenty of work to do though!
