My race went as expected
I thought that 3:15 was highly unlikely, but set off at that pace just in case something strange and amazing happened. By mile 5 I knew it definitely wasn't on but decided to hang on for as long as it felt OK anyway. Started to feel harder at mile 10 so I took a gel, which gave me a horrible stitch and lost me about 20 sec per mile until halfway. Got to halfway in 1:37 so in theory still OK for 3:15, but I didn't see the point of killing myself and not having any fun for what was likely to be a frustrating near miss...
So I slammed on the brakes, trotted along at a comfortable 8mm for a 1:45 second half and a 3:22 finish. Can't complain

I must have finished quite close to you Kinky - similar splits to me - I was 1:38/1:45.
