*slaps forehead and says D'oh*

Yes, you were my 1st sweaty hug of the day Flanker!!!
Think you just went [past so fast it hadn't really registered

However, my biggest sweaty hug was from a Pirate, known as Silent Assassin, who I know from my journeys into the 'Darkside'. He literally picked me up and spun me round till I was dizzy. He then stopped for a chat, time wasn't an issue as he only entered on a whim 4 weeks ago.

Great Fetchie performances yesterday, our fastest one coming from Milemonster who strode home in 2:34:xx and 10th place.
He didn't seem to hear me going nuts as he went past but has since told me he was aware of being screamed at shortly before the finish. He had hoped for a sub 2:30 but was still pleased with his run

It's very quiet in the wigwam today as I don't have much voice left!

Just off for a run, proudly wearing my 'CREW' top from yesterday.
Pleased to have been part of such a fab event.

There were a lot of

bloody well fell over last night, in the house and hit me knee! apart from that I feel okay today, still loving yesterday :) I'd have quite happily sat on the race course all night with a beer - not sure Mrs J would have been pleased:)

Official time was 4:04.14, which was a PB by over 9 minutes on my previous best (set in a 'previous life'). Also, more than half-an-hour better than my 'modern era' times in 2011 and 2012.

I'd always planned on a very big 'positive split'. The pre-race aim was for a first half of approx. 1:53 and a second half of approx. 2:07.

As it transpired, I went through half-way point too fast in 1:50. So, I made a decision to straightaway move to a walk/run strategy for the second half.

I was actually still on course for a sub-4 finish until as late as 23 miles. However, during the last three miles, I had to deal with (a) terrible cramping in my calves; (b) locking up for a while across the shoulders (like a metal stake had been driven into one shoulder and out through the other); and (c) a long steep incline around mile 24/25 (too much for a soft old ‘gym bunny’ used to treadmills).

But absolutely thrilled nevertheless.

Very, very emotional at the end. I just found myself sobbing and sobbing. No idea why.

This morning, my legs are totally ‘locked’ (quads, calves, the lot). I can barely get up from a chair, let alone walk around. That's the price you pay for training just on treadmills lol.

I've got a pic of a fetchie crossing the finish line at 4.03.05 - anybody know who he would be?

I've just been looking at my splits - I had managed to stay with the 4.30 bus until mile 16, went slightly ahead but then met that bastard of a hill (anybody who says it wasn't a bastard, please bear in mind I live in Boston) and had to start walking. And once I start walking in a marathon I find it so very hard to stop walking and get running again! I had a wee stop at the public loos in the same mile but by the time I came out again the 4.30 bus had gone by and that was me done for :-(

I had horrid cramps after the finish yesterday but did get to meet Pudsey Bear yesterday evening :-)

There must be something about this event. 3rd year on the trot that I've done it and had a great time every year. Nice course, great support and well organised start/finish. What more could I ask?
