Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Notes & Comments

Norwich Half Marathon. A tad breezy. A day of mixed feelings. Went out at a reasonable pace to aim for a strong PB, but realised on the steady uphill sections at 5 and 6, that I was a little optimistic. So then settled into a slightly easier pace. But there seemed to be not a lot in the legs - strange feeling really, not one I have ever had this early in a race. It was a race of 2 loops, so when I hit the hills again at 11 and 12, I was totally spent. Pleased that I persevered and finished the race, because clearly a PB was not on and felt terrible. Every muscle in my legs was telling me to stop. The gels seemed ineffective. A similar time to a training run at Christmas (with short stops). Strange that I am not as annoyed as I thought I would be - put it down as learning, as this is theoretically a training run for May's marathon. I WILL learn lessons from this:-
1. Went out a LITTLE optimistically. 2. Try my original gels. 3. Have I done too much training recently? 4. Put less pressure on myself for this race, as felt a good time was there to be had. Also at about 6 this evening, really felt chilled and had uncontrollable shivers - classic signs of 1, dehydration, 2, low glycogen levels or 3, Got too cold when finished - though bizarre it took so long to kick in. Maybe a rest is due - don't you just love running - I do!

I think we must all have a bug! How can we all be below par at the same time??

Just catching up... Sorry it didn't go well but sounds like a bug to me. Take it on the chin and rest assured the PB's there for the taking when you're back on top form.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone, may have a crack at an HM in April as it fits in with the schedule. Bungay HM looks good timing for me.
