Notes & Comments

Cheltenham Challenge Marathon with Bob. Felt very under prepared for this, having run 10 miles only once in the last 7 weeks and my weekly mileage in probably all of those weeks being less than marathon distance... But the lure of off road hilly running was too hard to resist! First 8 miles were very very hilly and I spent a lot of time preparing how to tell Bob I was dropping out at half way. But luckily the hills died away after that and although the going underfoot was tough, I started to gather momentum and can honestly say I felt no worse at the end than I did at 8 miles. We only managed to get lost 1 and a half times which was pretty good going. Had a particularly hairy moment at 20 miles when Bob wrenched his knee and we both thought the race was over, luckily a lady we'd been playing cat and mouse with from early on went past us, Bob wasn't having that so I gave him enough painkillers he rattled and he bravely soldiered on and of course we beat the lady to the finish ;-). Got interviewed by Radio Gloucester at end and for some reason put on a ridiculous posh accent and utter gibberish came out my mouth. A top class day.

Well done to you both you don't always need to train alot to have a good run especially off road. I am trying to put some old times on the fetch site but it will not let me have you any ideas.

This is extreme preperation for Toad Hall ;) And, how can you get lost 1 and a half times?!? Excellent running, as always :)

The first time we did an extra .6 of a mile, the half a time we must of cut a bit off so I'm only counting that as half! Also must add I'm sunburnt to within an inch of my life, no laughing when you seer next

Hardly an ultra, so pretty short for you ;-) How you do these on no training I have no idea, thats the impressive part! Im considerably darker skinned now too.

Great attitude and resilience to keep going when it would be so easy to give up, well done Katy, Glad you still mix with us at the club now that you're a famous Radio Mega-star
Please wait... saving your change.
