Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

Yeovil Olympiads 50th Anniversary Games Open 800m. I had orginally planned to do a 1500m after a poor performance at Exter in the 800m, but after running quite fast 400s on Tuesday I decided to do 800m and 1500m - but then realised the 1500m was only for under 13s, doh!

It was a lovely day, sunny and no wind, so perfect for fast running, but I wasn't feeling that great. I felt a little lethargic and quite sick while warming up. We started a little later than expected which meant I started to feel a little flat, plus my left achilles was starting to hurt a little.

We started in lanes and went off reasonably fast. I quickly got stuck behind a 400m hurdler running his first ever 800m. I heard a guy say 64 as I went through the bell, although can't be completely sure if that was my actual split (the guy in front was sure he went through in around 62). I tried to keep the pace strong - went around the 400m hurdler on the back straight, but he passed me again in the home straight. I felt quite flat and tired running this one. I did think I had maybe run sub 2.10 so was disappointed when I saw my time (2.11.7 officially and finished 4th out of 7).

Eunice and Tyler came with me to watch. Tyler seemed to enjoy it except for when I ran my race - he started crying because he thought I wasn't coming back!
