Wet parkrun with Joe. Terrible weather, worst of any parkrun I've ever done. Lots of surface water and so splashed through lots of puddles. Feet were wet from the start and throughout. Small part on grass at the start and finish but the rest on paths.
It was 2.5 km out and then 2.5km back. Joe and I ran together for the first 2km and I just drifted in front a little before the turnaround. Got a look at the gap on Joe there and we both said hi.
The return leg was into the wind and so the sub 20 ideas soon went out the window. I feared the heavy breathing around 4km was Joe but thankfully it was a couple of other runners passing me. Joe said they had passed him as well so they obviously paced their races quite differently to the Hedges brothers.
I was fearful of turning and looking for Joe incase it was a red rag to a bull. I did take a look with 400m or so to go and thankfully the gap was big enough. I pushed it on the grass but couldn't quite catch the guy in front.
I finished 19th and Joe was 13 seconds behind in 20th. I've just checked the official results and it looks like a Brother and Sister combo won the men's and women's races. More boys and girls races though as they were 15-17! So very much a family affair.
My legs weren't fantastic after the travel and a couple of runs with Joe. But Joe's were more beat up from a heavy running week. Run felt good even though conditions didn't really allow for a good time. Loving the first overseas parkrun and 50 creeps ever closer.

Sounds like a cracking race. I wish Joe had a GoPro so we could have seen the action!

A gopro would have been brilliant. But it was a hard run!

Some live action would have definitely added something. Joe get a Gopro on your Christmas list.
