Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

JP Morgan Corporate Challenge. One of the races I love to enter to see how I am going. My target was sub 24 minutes (about 4:15/km) and I smashed it!

The first km is uphill and slow to start because of idiots who start closer to the front than they should - I was constantly overtaking people for the entire race.

After km1 I settled into my rhythm which was just over 4min/km and I was pretty happy with this. I forgot about the little hill in km5, but was feeling pretty comfortable there and then I turned the screws for the last 600m or so.

With a little bit of luck I reckon I am not too far off a 20 minute 5k which I would never have dreamed of. I will need to give Parkrun a go sometime soon...

Anyway, I had no Darwin there as he got stuck at work and I reckon we would have been faster had we been there to push each other... maybe next year:-)

Well done Joe. Great race, the Fetch calculator reckons your time gets you a 20:34 5km. Your race sounded hilly and crowded, a bit more specific training and sub 20 is definitely on.

Yeah... I was taking out the first 600m (hilly and crowded) and including the final 600m (fast) and thinking that would get my to about 20:15... then it is just a little bit to take off. I may have to do a Parkrun soon. Very pleased with this result though!
