Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Notes & Comments

Sorry guys! Feels like I let the team down today, but my body (or my mind) just didn't want to play ball. I made the decision to leave the HR monitor at home, as I thought I would be able to judge my effort level on my own. In hindsight, this may have been helpful, as my perceived effort was really high early on.

I managed to stay on target pace for the first 5km, but I felt early on that I would not be able to keep it up. The profile of the course was definitely hillier than I had remembered and this definitely didn't help.

However, I'm disappointed with how I slowed. I struggled with motivation as I saw the 40 minute target float away.

I will take a nice break from running now, which I think is much needed. I felt physically and mentally tired at the end and looking forward to just doing whatever exercise I fancy for the rest of the year. I think the lack of a break after the Outlaw probably wasn't the best idea, but we live and learn!

Well done for finishing it off today. Still a very solid time given 3 walk breaks. Enjoy the break, I think it's a great idea. See you running again fresh and firing in 2015.

Good work Luke. Sorry to hear you couldn't finish the year off with the result you wanted, but by the sounds of things it is a very hilly course and not conducive to fast times. All in all a very good year of running (and triathlons!) so you should be really happy.

I think you have been overloading a lot lately and it might of just caught up with you - maybe the amount of hard sessions you have been doing took its tool as well? All in all a good result and your in great shape to keep getting stronger!
