Notes & Comments

I hate running when it's anything but cold so you can imagine my horror when I was stood on Blackheath at 8.30 this morning in vest and shorts and I was too hot. In the circumstances I was pleased with my effort and I think I could have broken 4 hours on a cool, rainy day. I was a little disappointed with the course, which was rough, potholed and often narrow. I couldn't get into a proper stride until 13 miles but by 17 the heat took its toll and I was reduced to 11 minute miles. I've also realised that I prefer running alone in peace and quiet. Still, this was an amazing experience and worth the last 7 months of torment from the public of Hull. I'll not quit until I get sub 4 hours.
