McGoohan McGoohan's sexathon - part five - the rower Having just done 1.5 miles on the elliptical to complete the Run For My Soul 4, I already had aching parts everywhere as I climbed aboard the rower. Singing along loudly (and breathlessly) I got blisters on my palms rowing away. I had no idea whether I could row for so long, but I did... Well inside my 32 min estimate, at 27 mins. In fact, I was enjoying it so much, I kept on from 3 miles (i.e. 4.8K) to make it up to 5K. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - SOUL SAVED

KatieB My Soul.Lots of my soul has already been given away. Little bits here and there, to my family, to the people closest to me, i put some into my work, I put lots into caring for my family and friends. I have part of my soul devoted to running, it's not the biggest part but it's a strong and important part. Giving my soul like this, means I get double back. I ran for my soul today...I ran with aching lungs and legs that weighed twice as much at the end than at the beginning and with a big smile as my garmin beeped to 3 miles, I ran 3 miles in the heat as fast as I could and faster than I ever have, just because some bloke on a website is after my soul. And I jogged home feeling like my soul was all mine again, safe and sound but ready to be divided up and shared with anyone who needs it. :-)

Hollywoof! BEFORE: Actually going to do this as part of BPTT - taking it easy again cos I'm tri racing the next day! AFTER: YES! Lovely run in the sun - 23:17 for the 5km - and also excellent watching Craig Mottram zoom round in 14:00 - absolutely stunning!

shoeless Shoeless 2 - Gobi 0 Get in. Actual run was slow and heavy and - despite going out at about 7pm - still rather hot. Was hugely surprised to find that I'd beaten the predicted time, as I decided about half way round that I'd lost my soul. Was mentally penning letter to soul to explain everything... Dear Soul How's the cupboard? etc... Consequently thrilled that my soul is still mine. Until Saturday. Bring on the Fetch 6.

Lumsdoni Ultra-soul - Leg 1- 6th June When I opened the door to get the Garmin warmed up I sensed something was wrong today. The scene before me was a post apocalyptic vista of seas of fire and brimstone, sulphuric gases rising from venting geysers in the middle of the road, and tortured souls begging for mercy. Then it hit me. The wheely bin was still at then end of the road. Weird! Pulling on my spanking new Asics, and feeling that today required a drastic change I entered new territory and set the Garmin to measure miles! So waving goodbye to my kilometre loving past I set off down the road, turned left at the lights, past the Fox and Duck right up Purgatory avenue. Keeping a fairly steady pace, but slighty disconcerted by the higher pace times associated with imperial measurement I was soon leaving Redemption Street behind me and entering the second mile, running through the middle of Damnation Meadows Estate, past the Library. As the run progressed, I was getting hotter and hotter, and was struggling for breath, feeling smothered as I fought to keep going on. Another 400 yards and I had to admit, I couldn't go on with this burden so I finally took the duvet off. It had cost me dear though 17mins for 2 miles, but I was up now - so there was only one thing for it. RUN FOR MY SOUL ! The new Asics rose to the challenge, propelling me down Eternal Pain Crescent and onto the last long straight of Flesh Devouring Disease Drive. Time was running out for me tohugh, I sensed a presence behind me, breathing, and whispering,

D2 My best 5k time is 36.11 but only managed 36.24 recently on flat course, anyway... should be able to do this but will need to simulate race conditions.. no date planned yet UPDATE: Hi, its me again; ‘Steady on Amber’ with my next race report; Friday 9th June Fetch Run for Your Soul 3 miles. Mum’s a bit quiet tonight after the humiliation of having our 5 mile world record time discredited but we are going out again…….. Quite a performance before we came out; toe nail trimming, (some kind of query about where the clippings would be safe from the soul stealer) and applications of sun cream – I think we are taking this very seriously tonight. I’m not surprised, the target time is a bit ambitious. Hurrah its swimming tonight! I love the canal, so much to see and do, not that swimming is one of my strengths, I did have to be rescued a couple of weeks ago, how was I supposed to know that I don’t float those duck things do? We started off very gently walking and jogging, which makes a change after the last few days mad dash, anyway gave me time to upset a few moorhens, apparently we were ‘warming up’ as if the fires of hell temperatures are not warm enough. So we set off on our run with no stopping for smells or swims but lots of panting, mile 1; 11.42, mile 2; 11.55 and mile 3; 12.05. Soul saved by over a minute. Quite impressive really. Just a quick point, I’m beginning to wonder if my name is really ‘Come on Amber’?

Ness Pre-race notes: This wouldn't be a PB for this distance but the route round my house is a bit hilly... Post race notes: Thought my soul was going to be lost at one stage. Not to Gobi - I think he would probably do a better job of looking after it than myself. No - I did the first mile in a reasonably good pace - then as I was running along I started thinking about the swimming lesson I was going to be teaching later on in the morning and lots of other things I'd be teaching that day. I realised my heart and soul just weren't in the running!!! I felt a cooling breeze wash over me and I realised it could be Gobi on his soul search so in the 2nd half of the run I made a focused effort to beat my predicted time. Did it by 14 seconds!!!!

teddy-o HAHA! My Fetch shirt arrived today, and it paid off! I think a road 5k PB - and I got held up by some old women! Yippee! Gobi; my soul back please!

Dochart A blackbird sounded its alarm call in the gathering dusk as Janet & I crested the rise and pounded down the lane. The scent of May blossom hung heavily in the air and the last rays of the sun turned the sky an ominous blood red. The warmth of the day was suddenly replaced by a chilly breeze while the long shadows merged into the gathering gloom of night. As we raced along, the fields and lanes of our familiar route lost their friendly face and adopted a less welcoming demeanour. Shadows moved and strange sounds could be heard beyond the hedgerows. The sweat on my face suddenly felt clammy and a cold shiver ran through me. Ahead was the old farm, its presence only discernable by a blacker darkness that seemed to loom over our path. Suddenly, Janet called out in anguish and pulled up. “Oh, Brad” she cried. “My Air Nikes have a puncture!” We limped through the farmyard, climbed the porch steps and knocked on the door of the old clapperboard house.

SPKoF My works 1st wednesday of the month 5km (ok, 3.1 miles to the pedants!) handicap. Handicap is set to nearest half minute based on the previous run. Have done a pb of 22:14 last month so I ran off 22 minutes but still came 5th with a new course best of 21.26. That in the blazing heat at 12:30 on the 7th.
