My scales weight about 2% heavier for body fat than when I am caliper measured

Protein powder does not exactly make you loose BF but in bikers case it was to slow weight loss down.

Finders
Biker - if you use Quorn mince and not beef then it is loaded with protein :-) Also if you add kidney beans then its adding protein, also use virgin olive to fry the mince and its giving you your good fats :-)

My scales tell me im 29% fat....mmmmmmm, OINK OINK ;-)

29% doesn't sound too bad to me Finders, I'm close to that myself and I am a highly toned male athlete. I wish!

yeah I misread the protein shake thing.

Last night's training was 11 miles tempo pace after 5 lunchtime and I was genuinely shagged afterwards and not hungry. Normally I spend all evening foraging for food, like some ravenous woodland creature. The training has abruptly increased by about 20% so I'm guessing that some weight will come off at some point.

Gobi, do your scales have an "athlete" setting? Mine don't and apparently it makes a difference to what they tell you?

Do you need to lose any Dr B? Seriously?
The healthy fat % guidelines on my scales for my age (31) is between 20 and 35% for ladies and up to 27% for men. Not sure about these, hubby is very fit and looks small but has a % of 25.

I know that ladies lay down fat easier don't they, on their hips and bums so that they can feed their offspring during a famine....apparently....well, that's my excuse and im sticking with it :-)

Finders

Over 18% for a man is too much and over 28% for a woman.
RE quorn, it has protein in it but as with most veggie options it is missing some aminos so you need to mix and match to get them all.

DrB

yeah they do and yes it does make a difference

For the record I am about 8.5% on the scales and under 7 when done with calipers.

you look just great finders!

Personally I think I look not too bad (fantastic actually of course, being a bloke!) and wifey thinks I am too skinny but the fact remains that the body fat/weight is higher than I'd like it and it's probably slowing my racing down.

no worries DrB

Words of warning, calipers are very intrusive(hands on) and if done right really do tell the whole story. It is usually not good news
