Tried a bit of Gaer Fort today in my fell shoes. I like going over undulating stuff, and descending as there's a lot of nice flat ground. Going up though - ouch! Didn't realise how tight shoes had to be for this stuff, I'll probably get a smaller size next time.

I loaded my run onto Garmin Training "Center", and my wife saw the pace graph and said "Ooh, are these peaks where you're sprinting really fast?". Says I "Er, no, that's where I stopped. Often". I may still have a bit of lurgy though, so may not be 100%. Definitely sweating like the proverbial.

Well done Tav!

Anyone got any news on the TofT. Actually that should probably read, Saint - got any news on how Rhion, Ruth, Tim and anyone else got on at TofT.

Rhion and Tim ran Bob, about 1:53, Sally did 1:29.30 to be third woman, was moaned at that she had "a male pacer" by a woman who presumably doesn't agree that couples should share healthy pasttimes :)

Nasty headwind at times, many first timers were wondering exactly what happened to this race where apparently you just turn up and the valley does all the work.

I tell people time and again...........13 miles is 13 miles - even if a lot of it is down hill.

Ah TavisH, you aren't going to get much sense out of Garmin Training Centre especially with elevation, here's what the sadly lamented Motionbased made of the Gaer Firebreaks tiny.pl

I paced a mate to sub 1.45. I found it tougher running than last week.

Thanks Saint, yes I've seen that before. It was bloody tough, worse than I thought it would be, but the only way is, quite literally, up. I entered from Bassaleg Road, turned left and tried to go straight up. I was expecting to have to walk, but boy it was steep. Had fun though. I'll have to remember in future that I can run through Jews' Wood and on through the park to Western Avenue, to save the studs on the shoes.

I was having a look at the elevation profile of TofT too. I would agree that it looks easier than it probably is - definitely more uphill bits than Cardiff for example.
